Eye Problems


A process affecting the lens of the eye, not only associated with advancing age, some people develop cataract in their 40s or 50s.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

The most common cause of legal blindness in Australia.


Often called the “sneak thief of sight”, and this is because it causes people to lose vision without any symptoms until the very late stages.

Retinal detachment

A condition where the retina lining the inside of the eye becomes detached from the underlying tissue.

Macular hole

A condition of the central retina where a small defect in the retina causes vision loss.

Epiretinal membrane (ERM)

A condition where a layer of scar tissue forms over the surface of the retina.


A major cause of vision loss, and many people with the disease are unaware their eyes can be affected or even result in blindness.
